Just got back from France with my son and what a time we had. After much deliberation I opted to take him to Rock Lakes.

It was an easy 5 hour drive to Migné which is in the Brenne National Park. We drove through the gate and immediately you are struck with the beauty of the lake. It is absolutely immaculate, lined with rushes, has an island and a lovley fishy looking bay! The Grounds are perfect and the Swims are just as good as all obstacles for casting and landing Fish have been removed to allow for trouble free Fishing. We were greeted by the owner, Carly, who gave me a nice cold Beer and a Coke for my son, Carly cannot do enough for you to make your holiday special. There's a lodge you can use with all mod cons (even english sockets) which is spotless as well. The fish stocks are very good with some huge fish (195lb cat) and while we were there we witnessed Carly adding more Stock to the Lake.

I chose to fish the swim in front of the lodge (easy to make a cup of tea!) and my son chose the bay swim next door. My son and me fancied the Cats so we fished for these as well as the Carp. The first run was within 30 mins of getting the rods out, I had a lovely 26lb common. The action from then on was non stop. The final total for the week was an amazing 71 fish! This only doing days, god knows if we had done nights.
We had 5 PB's as well.
32 cats 3xdoubles 1x20 6x30 14x40 4x50 2x60 1x90(93) My PB and a MASSIVE 140lb PB for my son (WOW!)
39 CARP 2Xdoubles 26X20 (19 over 25LB TO 29.9) 9X30(TO 38 COMMON) and 2X40 (41.6 and 45.1 both Personal Bests for my Son again!)
I cannot praise this place enough and I have no affiliation to it at all... if you're looking for somewhere to go book this place and you will NOT be disappointed!

What a great trip! After a long but straight forward drive from Calais we reached Rock Lakes and were greeted by Carly with some nice ice cold Beers. 

Whilst being shown around the beautiful lake we witnessed a fellow angler landing a 102lb Catfish, so obviously we couldn't wait to get our rods out. The lodge was perfect, very clean and had everything we needed. In total we caught 28 Fish (over 5 days) mixture of Cats and Carp weighing over a 1000lbs.

 

We took our bikes and had various lovely lunches out in the local villages; the Brenne Region is stunning. Carly made our holiday – a well respected fisherman, excellent host and a good laugh. Cats were caught on double pop up boilies (fished 2cm off the bottom) and the carp were mainly caught on a bed of maize (prepared & supplied by Carly) with a boilie (tipped with a pop up sweetcorn)
Day 4 we managed to catch one of the prettiest carp we have ever seen (we named it Petals) The biggest catch of the week was the 130lb Catfish which took over an hour to get in (just as we were leaving) so we cracked open some champagne and left looking back on such a great experience. We have fished in France a couple of times and this by far the best and we cant wait to come back!
